Not In Our Community
Not In Our Community (NIOC) is an anti-grooming campaign commissioned by The Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner for Humberside.
NIOC co-produces films and media with young people to help them understand how grooming and exploitation works so that they can better protect themselves, spot the warning signs amongst friends and know who they can go to for help.
The 4 main ways in which schools can use NIOC are:
NIOC Interact
An open access online resource, designed for use in classroom settings, that enables educators and practitioners to filter films and read-aloud stories by age group, subject matter and victim/perpetrator profile.
Supporting lesson plans are provided for all films and read-aloud stories with activities to help students understand the key themes and learning points.
NIOC Social
Not In Our Community posts informative and supportive content for young people on Facebook, Instagram and YouTube. Search for ‘Not In Our Community’ to follow us online.
NIOC Creates
The process through which young people interested in the creation of co-produced media can work with us to produce films and other media about what is happening where they live.
NIOC Interact
An interactive e-learning platform created to help users learn interactively:
• Set-up pathways suitable for school years 6, 7 to 9 and 10 to 11.
• Suitable for a one-off or series of sessions in or out of school/groups.
