You Are Not Alone Poems of the Day

You Are Not Alone
Poems of the Day

In 2018 we launched our suicide awareness campaign called “You Are Not Alone”.

To commemorate the 2-year anniversary of the event and to show the message should always live on, we are releasing a book of our personal poetry written as part of the campaign.

The group agreed something needed to be done to tackle suicide awareness, and as many of us had been personally affected by the subject, it was agreed something big was needed.

“You Are Not Alone” was born and we began work on building a large-scale event that would make people sit up and listen.

Working with local poet and BBC Audio Award Winner Vicky Foster, we wrote a collection of powerful and emotional poetry, shinning a spotlight on the mental health issues us and so many other young people live and struggle with every day.

The poems were recorded and edited into soundscapes, played through speakers at locations in Hull identified as having high suicide rates, to tell anyone who heard them what they needed to hear, “You Are Not Alone”.

2 years later, our poems have been collected and published in a special book, and we hope these will help lots of others during this time.

From Friday 3 April, we will bring you a poem from the book every day, accompanied by the artwork created by volunteer Kaitlyn.

At the end of the run the book will be available as a full download and a printed copy is planned for release in the near future.

We hope you enjoy these, and remember, You Are Not Alone.
