Recovery Is Not A Straight Line

Recovery is not a straight line
Not that perfect graph
Going nice and steady from 0 to 10 over time
In fact, it’s very shaky
Sweet there, sour here
Bitter most of the time, delicious much less
But like learning to cook the food
The mood becomes better with patience and practice
Mindfulness although tedious
It’s life saving
Be there for yourself and you’ll hear
Your true laughter once again
Self-care’s important, take your time, save yourself
Be the person you want to be in this world
The one that’d make you happy
Don’t’ say “someone has worse”
It doesn’t help when all you want is the end
Escape through community, togetherness and self-love
Fighting the silly world!
And enjoying the small.
