I’m fighting and won’t give up, by Volunteer Jess
I’m writing this at exactly 1:32 in the morning, night is the worst for me.
I can never sleep so I just lay awake thinking about everything with my mind racing and head banging. It’s awful this lockdown but things will be back to normal soon. Of course, it’s way too early to lift lockdown but why not think positive to the future instead of negative.
Just think you not going out meeting friends isn’t going to be forever it will be back to normal soon and everyone will appreciate everything so much friends and family will be hanging out all of the time. Freedom won’t be taken for granted. As a year 10 student, it’s hard for me during lockdown because of issues with my schools. I’ve missed a lot of schoolwork and I’m using this time as an advantage to catch up on the things I’ve missed.
At first, I was ready to give in and give up but after talking to mentors and people who support me I realised I can use this time effectively instead of going on social media all day. I do school from 9-2, and get myself into a proper routine, so when things do go back it won’t be such a struggle.
Of course I will struggle, but with others help it will be easier and I will adjust into the new “normal”. It’s hard being a young person during this pandemic because when I am looking through social media all I see is fake news on lockdown being lifted and I get so excited.
This has been such a struggle but I’m fighting and won’t give up until this is over.
Stay strong and keep smiling this will be over soon!
