Humberside Police Cybercrime: How to prevent and protect
The internet and computers now play a major part in our lives and most of us now have a presence in the digital world. In addition to the benefits, the internet also provides an ever increasing platform for a modern age of crimes.
The Humberside Police Cyber Crime Investigation Team was created in 2016 to deal with this increasing demand.
The team have a strong focus on the preventative side of cybercrime and currently work with schools and businesses as well as at public events to raise awareness of cyber threats and online risks.
We work with young people in a number of different ways, from identifying career opportunities in cybercrime to diverting young people from risky behaviour online and giving preventative advice on becoming a victim of cybercrime.
We cover risks online such as Phishing emails, Smishing, Vishing and discuss password security and the Computer Misuse Act. With technology becoming such a large part of daily life it’s important we all know the risks and dangers involved in the misuse of the internet and devices.
The Cybercrime Team are happy to visit your school to discuss cyber security with students as well as staff.
