Gamcare offers sessions for young people that are one hour modules, ideally delivered in PSHE sessions or on school health and drop-down days.

Sessions for Young People

The sessions are interactive and the aims are:

• Young people will gain the awareness, knowledge and skills to make safer choices around gambling and its links with gaming.

• Young people will understand the impact of problem gambling and recognise the signs of problem gambling in themselves or someone else.

• Young people know where and how to access help if they need it.

Sessions for Professionals

Staff training courses/ modules can be delivered via a brief awareness raising session (20/30 mins ideal for team meetings), or 1 or  3-hour CPD accredited version that adds more depth to the previously mentioned content around screening and brief interventions.

The aims of the training are:

• To understand the impact on young people and also their families (links to mental health related issues, criminal activity etc)

• Raise awareness of methods of gambling (In particular the switch to gaming based links with gambling)

• Create a better understanding for professionals on how to screen for problems in young people.

• Learn how to signpost and the methods of support and intervention available.
